PLATYPUS DOCUMENTARY
Filmmaker, Producer & Host
Melbourne, Australia
Thanks to the National Geographic Society & The Nature Conservancy, I secured a seed funding grant of $2,000USD to further my research and document the amazing work scientists are doing to combat the effects of Melbourne's expanding urbanisation on it's freshwater ecosystems, habitat which is vital for platypus populations.
Blurb: Brendan Cohen teams up with ecologists from EnviroDNA to explore how Melbourne's expanding urbanisation is impacting Victoria's platypus populations, and research a new ground-breaking method of species detection (eDNA) which could hold the key to the future of platypus conservation.

I also joined EnviroDNA as a research assistant, responsible with tagging and biologically sampling platypus, testing environmental water quality and analysing eDNA. I also acted as their in field photographer, capturing BTS footage and stills for them, alongside filming and producing the short film.
