Live Safari
WILD EARTH TV
Wildlife Cameraman & Photographer
Kruger National Park, South Africa
Living and working in a remote bush community, I was deeply immersed in the wild. My family is from South Africa, so it felt like I was returning to my second home. My job was to ensure our 7+ million monthly viewers felt the same way.!
Filming live safari game drives required constant awareness and instinct. I was reading the landscapes, anticipating animal movements, and staying ready for moments that unfolded without warning. I also worked in sync with the naturalist’s narration, following their voice to shape the story in real time, capturing subtle behaviours and key details.
I also captured behind the scenes moments, ensuring our story did cease at the end of the live broadcast. The trackers, filmmakers and naturalists played a vital part in building the experience, and I felt it was important to capture their work and personalities.
This experience taught me how to think visually and translate the raw unpredictability of the bush into a coherent, engaging live experiences.

I joined WildEarth TV as a cameraman and photographer. We recorded two game drives everyday, one in the early morning and another at sunset. It was a real privilege to film wildlife and educate viewers in such a raw and untouched landscape. I found out very quickly that filming wildlife while live is a whole different ball game!
