I was thrown into the deep end – no literally – on day one I was wading chest deep through the wetlands of the Everglades National Park! I wrestled with 90kg American Alligators to capture, survey and document their health and distribution, tracked Burmese Pythons using telemetry technology and trapped invasive Argentine Black & White Tegus.
During these expeditions, I served as a photographer, capturing engaging stories and compelling narratives from the field to showcase the important work that informs scientific research from behind-the-scenes. Through photography and social media reels, I wanted to convey the dichotomy of conservation - the intensity, high emotions and gravity yet also serenity, visual freedom and passion.
This experience reinforced my passion for telling grounded, immersive stories from the front lines of wildlife conservation.
